Mr. VanderPas teaches Pre-Algebra and Algebra at HMMS/SVMS.
He has been at HMMS/SVMS for twelve years. He graduated from Concordia
University in River Forest with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and
P.E. He also received his Masters in Computer Technology from Lesley University. He Coaches Football and Track. |

Algebra Online. This site will actually solve an equation and inequality. Students, you can actually substitute any expression or polynomial into the problem and the site will either factor, simplify or expand it. This site was created by the staff at Algebra Online.
Algebra Topics. This site is intended to help the you learn how to solve many of the often difficult algebra lessons. Many categories are given to enhance the learning of the student. Geometry, statistics, and even calculus problems are also given. This site was created by Think Quest.

Job Site. This site gives everyone information about careers. Earnings, information, and just about everything about your job is hear.
Realtor Site. This web site is excellent for finding a home anywhere in the United States. Students of any age, including adults, will enjoy this site. This is the first site that we will look at in class to find your home. This site was created by the National Association of Realtors.
Kelly Blue Book. This site is for buying your new or used cars. If you are trying to sell a used car, you can find the blue book price on the vehicle. The site also compares the dealer's invoice to the retail price of new cars. Motorcycles can also be researched through this site. Show your parents this site. They will find it useful. The site was created by Kelley Blue Book.
General Motors. This site is for finding Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and Saturn cars, trucks, and vans. The site also shows prices, payments, and insurance options on all vehicles. The site was created by the General Motors Corporation.
Ford. This site is similar to the General Motors site. It deals with Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury cars, trucks and vans. It has some really neat graphics and images for your projects. It was created by the Ford Motor Company.
Starting Salaries. This site shows starting salaries for many of the careers that you have chosen to work on your career project. As you look at the salaries, you need to compare the salary with other sources that we have looked at in class. Use these salaries as you build your budgets. This site was created by the College Placement Council.
Autobytel. This site is
similar to the Kelly Blue Book site, but it gives a better search for used
vehicles and will
give a picture of the vehicles. Kelly Blue Book will not give the
picture of used vehicles. The site will let you find
actual cars on lots within whatever mile radius you want from your home.
Insurance, warranties, and payments are
also given to the buyer and seller. This is a neat site created by Autobytel.
Scope Systems.
This site has historical events, births, deaths, and POW-MIA that were reported
on that
particular year. Just select a month and year and continue.

HMMS Resource. - This site was created for students and teachers to help them with their lessons, plans, and homework.
Crossword Help. - This site will help you with many crosswords and finding the actual words by giving the clues and the number of letters the word has.
Barry's Clipart - Free clipart for building web pages or presentations.
Quia. This site has many games, puzzles, and activities that use not only math, but many other subjects as well. Matching, concentrations, and memory are some of the games used to enhance your learning. In this site, you can create your own learning activities. You can also visit many of the top game activities that are listed, many of which are not only math. This site was created by the Quia Corporation.

To get 5 extra credit points per week you need to come to this site
every Monday and find out from Mr.
VanderPas what form or sheet you need. You will need to ask Mr.
V. for the extra credit sheet for the week. He
will ask you to state the name of the sheet or password.
This week's bonus is a puzzle sheet. To get the sheet you must say the password: Johnsonmeister!!!!
